Troy Staples is the Director of Preparedness and Resiliency for the American Red Cross of Colorado and
Wyoming; to include community, youth and organizational preparedness programs. He Partners with
public sector and private sector to help ensure the whole community is more resilient. Troy sits on
several national Red Cross working groups that focus on logistics, training and readiness. In his past role
with the American Red Cross Troy was the Disaster Workforce Manager. He was responsible for the
readiness posture for Colorado and Wyoming; to include training, exercising and deployment of our
responders around the country. There are over 800 volunteer disaster responders in our region. He
continues to run the logistics the department for the region. This includes managing our disaster fleet,
supply chain management, emergency communications and budget controls.
Troy is an emergency preparedness professional with more than 20 years of Private Sector
management experience where he was responsible for emergency response, asset protection, strategic
life safety planning and management of teams of 50+.
Troy is a member of the Colorado Emergency Managers Association (CEMA), the Association of
Contingency Planners (ACP) National Association for Armature Radio (ARRL), ASIS International, in
addition to other organizations. Troy is a certified instructor for CERTT (Community Emergency
Response Team Training), ALICE Instructor for active shooter and an advanced instructor for the
American Red Cross.
