Have you seen these next guidelines before and don’t know what it means?
While we do encourage adherence to these guidelines it is not absolute. This anthology is specifically designed for those who are just getting their feet wet. Try and utilize these, however, it will not exclude your story from submissions if it is not exactly right. These are also mentoring projects and we will endeavor to help you understand the ins and outs of these things.
Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please notify us in a timely manner if your work is accepted elsewhere. This means if you sent the same story to more than one publisher and another accepts it, then we can’t use it and you need to let us know asap. But also if we accept your story, another publisher can’t publish it either. It is important that you are mindful of this. To sell it to more than one WILL get you in hot water.
Wow this seems complex, right? Not really because below we tell you what it means.
The cover letter should include your name, publishing name if different, address, email, word count, story title, and a short bio.
This means the first page of your submission should have all the info we need to pay you and get you published. Give us your name so the check can be cashed (however, we use PayPal and Venmo {preferred}) What if you don’t want to be you and you want to be Suzie or Freddy writelife? We need to know that too. How shall we communicate? Email is our preference so give it up. How many words are you giving us? Pretty easy, right? Do you have a title in mind? NO? that’s OK, just offer up a thought as to where your mind was when writing and we will help you find one. And finally the dreaded bio. This is who are you? Give it your best shot, (and remember the dreaded bio is written in the third person) We need this to add to your story but we will also help you refine this for future use.
We will make every attempt to respond to submissions promptly. You can, however, withdraw your submission at any time. email submissions to submissions@angryeaglepublishing.com
